This novel is an object lesson on why oneshouldn’t spend 20 years finishing stories. There is very little new and original under the sun. The book’s theme is not unlike that of the television series the Expanse, being essentially about solar system politics in the near future. It does have a twist though, which is that one of its characters is a machine intelligence, the Torrent.
